Football proved to be a beautiful game and then some on Saturday, 14th October, when our Year 5/6 Football Team played a cracking match against Kings Avenue Primary School, on the Rosendale Playing Fields.
Our team held its formidable formation for the entire game, with Matthew and Zak scoring a goal each, giving Lyndhurst a 2:1 lead when the final whistle blew.
It was hard to believe, throughout the nail-biting hour, that the team had only been working together for a month, with just two matches under their belt. (They drew their previous game, two all.)
Winning the game was no mean feat; Kings Avenue were an admirable opposition but there was no doubt that Lyndhurst held possession of the ball for the majority of the match - that's not just bias, honest! The opposition's goalie was tremendous and kept our boys from adding another three or four goals to the final score.
The fans had an amazing physical and vocal warm-up launching themselves up and down the sidelines cheering on the team with an energy to match the game.
This was an exceptional team effort with some serious skills on display but there can only be one Man of the Match and this week that accolade went to Matthew. Well deserved. Well done team!
Team matches are normally held on Saturday mornings at either Rosendale Playing Fields, or Dulwich Sports Ground. We'll let you know about upcoming fixtures. Rain doesn't stop play and the team plays during inclement weather, so you may want to wrap up warm... very warm!
