International Evening 2016

Thursday, 24th November 2016 from 6pm to 8pm

Dear Parents, Carers,

This week the children will be immersed in learning about life in other countries as they study the “river” their class is named after. Staff are preparing a whole host of wonderful activities for the children to do and there will be displays in the upper hall and corridors of all the wonderful work.

The evening event will take place on Thursday 24th November from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Families will have a chance to look at the displays and to enjoy tasting some delicious food. This is where we need your help!

We just need to remind you about a few things:

  • National Dress: We would love children to come to school on Thursday wearing their national dress or colours from their country’s flag – the children should also wear their outfit in the evening, if possible.
  •
  • International Evening Food: Please don’t forget to bring in some food for the evening and drop it off in the dining hall. We need as many food donations as possible – please bring enough food for your family plus a bit extra. However don’t forget, this is a “taster menu” so please eat at home before coming out! Please remember that we are unable to heat food up or to actually cook any food and remember to name all containers (including lids) – maybe think about using disposable ones! Don’t forget the ingredients and history cards!
  •
  • Visit our Displays: Please remember to visit both halls and corridors to look at all our wonderful displays.
  •
  • Musical Interlude: There will be a band playing music from around the world . They are called “The Musical Dojo Quartet”. They will be outside the dining hall (weather permitting) so come prepared (hats and scarves) to stand outside and enjoy some wonderful music.

We look forward to seeing you all Thursday evening when we will celebrate the true diversity of our school and sharing food from all these countries is one way of celebrating this and coming together!! If you have any questions, please talk to your child’s class teacher.

If you are able to donate some food please could you fill in the slip on our special International Evening page, and return it to the school office. We will also need you to fill in the ingredients/history card. Please hold onto the card and put it next to your dish on the Thursday.

Send Us Your Favourite Feasts!

Food is at the heart of International Evening and the Christmas holidays, and we want you to send us your favourite recipes for the school website, email Sarah Phillis to celebrate these events.

Thank you very much for your support and we look forward to tasting many delightful dishes!

Kind regards,

Jola Nowakowska

Deputy Head Teacher
