Going Green: Upcycle your way to this year's Winter Fair 1

Getting to know Friends of Lyndhurst (formerly PTA)

Dear All,

All parents, carers and teaching staff at the school are automatically members of Friends of Lyndhurst, or FoL, (formerly known as the Parent Teacher Association - or PTA) for as long as their child is at the school, or in the case of teachers, for as long as they teach at the school. FoL gives parents and carers the chance to get involved with all aspects of their children's school life by providing a link between them and teachers. FoL also plays a key role in raising funds for the school, as well as organising social events for parents and children.

An FoL committee is elected each year at the Annual General Meeting. This committee is tasked with arranging FoL meetings, providing communication between parents and the school, and enabling fundraising events to be organised.

In addition, there are one or two volunteer class reps for each class.

We meet around twice a term, and meeting times are varied to make sure as many people as possible can attend (we alternate between morning, after school and evening meetings). For after school meetings the school provides a creche for Lyndhurst children.

New ideas and fresh faces are always welcome! Please do come to meetings as much as you can; you won't get dragged into doing anything you don't want to do! The more parent and carer voices we have at meetings, the better we can represent your views.

Class Reps

Our Class Reps are an invaluable conduit of communication between the classroom and the home. Parents volunteer their time to pass on news about upcoming school events, as well as listen to queries some parents may have, which they may like to pass on to teachers.

Do expect be be nobbled by your Class Rep, in a friendly fashion, to ask for you to help out at certain times of the year - nudge, nudge! For example, the Winter Fair is coming up (Saturday, 2nd December) and any time you may have to either help on a stall, create some decorations or simply tidy up, is always welcome, be it ten minutes or ten hours!

Here is a list of our current Class Reps. We still need someone for Zambezi, so if your child is in that class, please consider taking on the role (you can co-Class Rep to lighten the pretty light load).

Huge appreciation for December 2016's Winter Fair...

All the fun of the 2016 Winter Fair revealed...

Let them eat cake for phenomenal fundraising!

A big thank you to all of you who participated in last term's playground cake sale on Friday 21st October - especially Sarah, Richard & Robert who were manning the stall. It was a little manic and we ran out of cakes soooo fast! Demand certainly outstripped supply so even more cakes next time please!

We're delighted to confirm that we raised a pleasing £123.25.  Thank you everyone!
